Doesn't look like there's a new Friday Five this week, so here's last week's:
1. What do you do for a living?
I'm an Online Content Producer for a daily newspaper. That's a rather vague title, I know. Basically, I'm in charge of our daily content. I update the main page with breaking news throughout the day and do two major news updates at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m., along with sending out news email digests and news alerts. I help with web-only content, from special sections to our online-only columnists. Plus, there's the ever-present maintenance: Making sure links, images, graphics, site navigation, etc. are working. (We have night staff that takes the contents of the paper and puts it online.)
2. What do you like most about your job?
It's rather cool to be working in such a new field. New Media has only been around for about 10 years. There are so many advances happening in online journalism. (When I was younger, I always thought I'd work in journalism, but I never imagined it would be in this capacity!)
3. What do you like least about your job?
The fluctuation between monotony and stressful busyness. See below.
4. When you have a bad day at work it's usually because _____...
I get hit with more than one or two projects that must be done, like, 10 minutes ago! (This happens often. *sigh*)
5. What other career(s) are you interested in?
Editor, author, etymologist/linguist, librarian...I could go on, but the likelihood of me actually doing these careers are slim.
