- I finally got issue eleven of Eclectic Magazine online. This month's issue is an all fiction special.

I've always found names to be fascinating. At this site you can see the most popular names, by decade. My name - Joanna - is almost never in the top 100, and I like it that way :)

It's hard to find old news on the 'net, since everything is updated so often; so it was good to find that Northernlight.com has a news search that goes back two weeks.

In today's Excite Poll: "Would you want a microscopic chip in your body that could communicate all of your vital information to another person with only a handshake?" I definitely would not; even the thought of it is creepy!

Speaking of creepy, here come the Verbots!

If you're not all ready jaded about American politics, check out ThisNation.com. I probably should brush up on my facts before I vote this November.

If you're worried about buying a new puppy because you're concerned that it was reared in a puppy mill, check out the Pet Rescue Clearing House, which lists animal shelters all over the country.

- Dave Barry is hilarious!

Pong was before my time, but now I can play it online with iPong. Speaking of old video games, when I was little my brothers and I bought an old Atari at a garage sale. We played Frogger and PACman for hours at a time. Ah, the memories :)

It's sad the things women have subjected themselves to, just to look "beautiful."

Useful resource sites: FreewareFiles.com ; Eboz.com

I just added a new band to my MP3.com Station.

- Women and girls were attacked yesterday in Central Park, and the police allegedly did nothing about it! This is so disgusting. First of all the men (I don't even think they deserve to be called men) who did this need to be brought to justice; and secondly, the police need to be punished. What is the matter with them?! UGGHH!

- Yeah, Yeah, I've been slacking ;)

I love oldies from the 60s and 70s; and thanks to Napster, I'm listening to Creedence Clearwater Revial and Van Morrison right now! :)

Cartoons aren't exactly what I like to watch, but hey, some of these are amusing.

Sometimes when I'm bored, I type in random domain names: It seems that weirdo.com is going to be giving away email addresses.
When I put in "psycho.com" it brought me here.
Hell.com was intriguing. There is no heaven.com. Weird, huh?

My brother says that Bree Sharp looks like a "redneck." I don't think so, and her music rocks, so even if she does look like a redneck, who cares?! < Click here for a real redneck.

I haven't blogged zinos.com before. I don't know why either. It's very cool if you're into e-zines, like I am. It's an e-zine digest, plus it has a "top e-zines" list.

My mouse is messing up: We had to switch the buttons so that now the right click works like the left click used to and vice versa. My poor hand is not used to it ;(

I want to upload the latest issue of Eclectic, but the server won't let me FTP. Blah. Well, the least I can use xDrive to back the issue up.

- I just saw Creed's new video for With Arms Wide Open. It rocks! If you've only heard their second album, I definitely recommend that you check out their first CD. It's my favorite :)

Random Poll:
Do you think you're addicted to the net/web, that includes chatting, surfing, instant messaging, posting in forums, etc.?
Yes, definitely!
Maybe a bit, especially on the weekends.
No, not at all!

- It's official: grunge is dead. Eddie Vedder said so on CNN. I wonder what Kurt Cobain would have said if he were still alive?

Dr. Laura can be so annoying; I can't believe I've actually listened to her show... I must have some form of masochism ;)

I think A Word A Day was the first e-list I subscribed to when I first got online, two-and-a-half years ago. Where has the time gone?!

- I caught parts of the MTV Movie awards last night. Dr. Evil and Mini-Me won for best duo. (I just discovered they have action figures!) Both Austin Powers movies are considered modern classics in my family :) In fact, we name one of our kittens Mini-Me (aka Minnie) because she looks exactly like her mom!

Survivor has me in its clutches! Yep, advertizers, it's much more interesting than "Millionaire." Heh.

The X-Files
Mulder and Scully
unravel syndicate plans.
So what else is new?
Dick
All the President's
Men, together with Clueless;
What a dumb idea.
The Haunting
Hill House, servants leave
insomniacs, try to sleep.
Qui-Gon where are you?
Schindler's List
Shades of black and white
fully capture the wartime
feelings of great loss.

- Lucy is a luminous being. That entry is an example of why I love online journals! :)

Katie gives a rundown of her HS graduation (congrats!) and reminisces about her third grade anti-smoking rap (Hehe, I remember doing stuff like that!)

Blue Vinyl Fonts : More fonts to fuel my addiction! [ Check out punk rock! ]

Snapshot From 1900. Hmm, they made some rather astute predictions. I just wonder how many risible ones they made?

I'm looking forward to watching The 1900 House, June 12th on PBS. A family must try to restore an old Victorian house and live as people lived in 1900. It seems like it'll be very interesting!

It seems like everyone has linked The Phobia List. I know I did when I first started my 'blog; but in the off chance that you haven't seen it, here it is again: phobialist.com.

Napster and the Offspring have reached a peace agreement. Eminem was arrested on Saturday night. Metallica backlash has started.

- For some reason, I've been finding a lot of odd sites today:
This site is just cruel. Don't people have better things to do with their time? [This girl is not ugly!]

I guess Kenyan children know how to get a point across! Heh.

Feel like going nude this summer?

Britney gets an offer. As much as I can't stand her, that was a disgusting thing for someone to suggest!

- For your daily dose of paranoia and conspiracy, visit Sightings.com

I haven't been able to get to the library lately (one of my absolute favorite places - No, I'm not joking!), so I was ecstatic to find Bookface.com. I've begun to read "Pyramid Scheme," by Kate Orman; it's sci-fi, one of my favorite genres. I just wish they'd allow me to print the stories out. Ah, well.

I've got to download the RadioFreeVirgin net radio player. It looks pretty cool.

Watch out, the Food Nazis are on the way!

Want independent media coverage? Then check out IndyMedia

When I first heard Back Here, by BBMak, I tried to tell myself I didn't like it, that they were a boyband, that they probably don't write their own songs, etc.; but it's no use, the song is extremely catchy. I won't say I'm a fan...but you never know , it could happen.

- Erin, the editor of I Was A Teenage Dissident, just put out a two-year retrospective; which reminds me: Next month is going to be my webzine's two-year anniversary. I can hardly believe that I've kept it up this long!

Speaking of zines, if you run / edit a zine you might want to check out the zinester's mailing list. It's awesome!

- Diary of An AOL User. Ok, this is hilarious; but I have to say, not everyone who uses AOL are complete morons. When my family first got online, back in '98, we signed up with AOL, and we still have our account. BUT we kept it just because we get too many important emails at our AOL addresses to delete them. So, what we do is use our own local dial-up company and just pay $10-a-month to access AOL. I bet ya didn't know you could do that! ;)

- The next issue of my webzine is going to be an all fiction special; so if you have some fiction that you'd like published, feel free to submit it!

Check out the Age Guage to see how much younger / older you are than certain celebrities and how old you were when some important things happened. It's pretty cool. Here are some of my results:
I was:
16 years old when Princess Diana died
14 years old at the time of Oklahoma City bombing
13 years old when O. J. Simpson was charged with murder
12 years old at the time of the bombing of the World Trade Center
10 years old when Operation Desert Storm began
9 years old during the fall of the Berlin Wall
5 years old when the space shuttle Challenger exploded
3 years old when Apple introduced the Macintosh
2 years old during Sally Ride's travel in space
And not yet 1 year old when President Reagan was shot by John Hinckley, Jr.

See the Self Made Critic's review of Dinosaur. True, true. I all ready knew Battefield Earth was going to suck, so I didn't see it.

Matchbox20is doing a live webcast on June 7th. They're asking fans to submit questions. If yours (or mine!) gets selected you (or I!) get to ask them the question over the 'phone and get tickets to one of their shows!

I took the Verbal IQ test a few days ago and got an 84. Not bad, but I'm sure I could have gotten higher if I hadn't rushed through it. I also took the meticulous test, and I scored in the 85th percentile. I never knew I paid so much attention to details!

An email address (It was myspine@somethingiforget.com) reminded me of a band that I haven't heard about in a long time: Caroline's Spine. I really, really liked their song "Sullivan," when it got major airplay in 1998 (I think). I decided to search and see if I could find some information on what's going on with them and found this site, where you can download a song off their newest release. I'll probably have to use Napster to get "Sullivan."

It's nice to see that other young people [ see her March 29th entry ] are looking into the Libertarian Party, as an alternative to the Republican and Democratic Parties. Interested getting more information on the Libertarians? Check this out. Teens and young adults shouldn't think we can't change things. Here's proof: "'This is a generation that must be reckoned with. They are going to overtake the country.'"

"I started out clean but I'm jaded." -- from "Bent," by Matchbox20. That lyric pretty much sums up how I feel about the Presidental race this year. Maybe by November, I'll be ready to vote. [ yVote ]

I don't remember how I came across this site, but it brings back so many memories; I read so many of those books when I was younger!

Tip: Pressing CTRL and ENTER / RETURN at the same time automatically adds "http://www..com" to your browser! Then you just have to add the middle part. Cool, huh? :)

- Last night I dyed my hair "Red Penny." I wanted something less coppery but that's all I could find, and I was so eager for a change (my normal hair color is light brown) that I bought it away. It came out pretty good, and everyone seems to like it, so it's all good. Next time, though, I am definitely going to go real red, like fire engine red.

I've been catching up on this month's entries in Katie's journal; speaking of which, I've always been envious of her journal name -- Digital Ink. I want that title! Heh ;)

Random quote: "Those Abercrombie & Fitch people... ahh, yes, they scare me." - Stephen Jenkins, of 3EB fame. They scare me too...

freeIM.org -- sign the petition to let AOL know that it's IM service should remain open to everyone, reguardless of their provider.

- I was happy with the X-Files season finale on Sunday. I think the baby is Mulder's, by artificial insemination...but, it is the X-Files, so it's probably alien. Yet in last year's finale, they hinted that Mulder is a alien - human hybrid, so it could be his and still be alien. I know, I know... I think way too much about the show! [ good news ]

I saw Dinosaur on Sunday with my family. It was an ok movie; the graphics were cool, but the "dino love story," was rather pathetic. I hate it when they try to give animals human characteristics. Well, it was a Disney movie. I shouldn't have expected more.

Oohh, they're so cute. National Geographic has an OtterCam! :)

Maybe Courtney Love is cooler than I thought she was: "It's become quite fashionable lately for artists to express outrage at music piracy, and I'm a fashionable gal," Love started. "Stealing artists' music without paying for it fairly is absolutely piracy -- and I'm talking about major-label recording contracts, not Napster."
Plus, it's really cool that her webmistress is 19 -- my age!

It's official, I'm addicted to MP3.com. So much awesome music, so little time! I'm in the process of building a station. Check it out and let me know if you have any favorite MP3.com bands!

A website devoted to ketchup? Some people have too much time on their hands. (Like I'm anyone to pass judgement on that...LoL!)

- Ok, so it is possible to have brains, beauty, and riches.

My celebrity soul sister is Drew Barrymore; I'd get along with Queen Latifah and Winona Ryder also. Yeah, so it's cheesy, but hey, it's fun! :) [ thanks ]

- emode.com has some new tests. I took a few, and I found out that I was a leopard in my past life. I always knew I was a cat! Heh ;)

I also found out that I'm the same "color" as Sheryl:
"BROWN is a credible and stable color. Reminiscent of fine wood, rich leather, and wistful melancholy, brown is the color of academia. Most likely, you are a logical and pragmatic individual who is ruled more by your head than your heart. You have an inquisitive mind and an insatiable curiosity. Browns are great problem solvers. They gather all of the facts before coming to a timely and informed decision. You are intrigued easily and always find new ways to challenge your mind. Brown is an impartial and neutral color. Most likely, you know the difference between fact and opinion, and are open to many points of view. "

Some tidbits:
Analyze yourself. Willa updated her 'blog layout. I like it! :) I love the simplicity of this site!
