MP3.com is giving away another 100 MP3s on CD for free. I love these things!

- Win Blink 182 tickets here. I'd enter, but I live nowhere near where any of the concerts are going to be :(

Even though I detest MTV, I think Matchbox 20 deserves to be on TRL for Bent. Go vote for them!

Eminem is mad at Napster. The ironic thing about all these artists getting upset (Note: they have every right to be) and suing the company, is that they are probably bringing more attention to the program. I'm betting that more people have signed up for Napster since Metallica and Dr. Dre sued the company than had signed up before they sued them. So, the artists / bands, in a way, are perpetuating what they're trying to stop.

It's pretty pathetic when a city has to brag about the people who lived there. Yeah, that's my hometown.

- I thought disco was dead! Why, oh why, are they trying to bring it back?!

It seems that everyone has their dream guy or girl :)

I really need to start writing more! Maybe I need a jumpstart. But mostly, I've been lazy. I just have to make the time somehow.

- I received this in an email and it is nice to know that Mother's Days wasn't entirely invented by Hallmark:

Mother's Day Proclamation
Julia Ward Howe - Boston 1870

Arise, then, women of this day! Arise all women who have hearts, whether your baptism be of water or of tears! Say firmly: "We will not have great questions decided by irrelevant agencies, Our husbands shall not come to us, reeking with carnage, for caresses and applause, Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn all that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience. We women of one country will be too tender of those of another country to allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs." From the bosom of the devastated earth a voice goes up with our own. It says 'Disarm, Disarm!' The sword of murder is not the balance of justice! Blood does not wipe out dishonor nor violence indicate possession. As men have often forsaken the plow and the anvil at he summons of war, let women now leave all that may be left of home for a great and earnest day of counsel. Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead. Let them then solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means whereby the great human family can live in peace, each bearing after her own time the sacred impress, not of Caesar, but of God - In the name of womanhood and of humanity, I earnestly ask that a general congress of women without limit of nationality, may be appointed and held at some place deemed most convenient and at the earliest period consistent with its objects, to promote the alliance of the different nationalities, the amicable settlement of international questions, the great and general interest of peace.

- I'll be the first to admit that I've used Napster to get MP3s. I mean, how could I not? It's so easy! But I'm beginning to think about not using the program. It just doesn't seem fair to the artists (and I don't want to get in trouble for copyright infringement!). Anyway, there are so many other places that I can get free music legally: riffage.com, mp3.com, radiofreecash, wiredplanet, discjokey.com. Ok, so at some of those places you can't save the music, but at least you can listen to it without getting sued!

- I always listen to music online, so I was happy to learn that I can make money while doing it! I use Radio Free Cash. They have over 200 stations, so there's something for everyone. Right now, I'm listening to "Ska Revival."

I hope the X-Files comes back for an eighth season! What would I do without my weekly David Duchovny fix? ;) Seriously, though, I hope the show comes back. It's one of the only interesting shows on TV!

New band alert: 8stops7. Thanks to Hellcat for the reminder! I enjoy their song, "Satisfied, " mucho!

People in the United States living in a yurt? Amazing! I found this guy's journal almost a year ago, but then I lost the URL. Luckily, I found it again, via Jan's links.

- After months of slacking, I've finally published a new issue of my web zine, Eclectic. Check it out. And if you have the time and interest, submit some of your writing. I'm always looking to discover new talent!

I sort of got jaded of the whole "personal site" thing for awhile, but then I came across this site, and for some reason, it made me want to start exploring personal sites again. Hmm. Oh, and I found a new journal: My Life In 12-Point Font, via Katie's links. It makes me want to start my own online journal. I tried to start one about 6 months ago, but I never really could get into the "groove" of it, so I gave up. My paper journal is good enough for me, I guess.

Moving from the North to the South is a rather tramatic experience. I should know; I did it 12 years ago, and I don't think I've ever fully recovered. This pretty much sums it up.

- Edit an e-zine or a webzine? Check out eZine Swap, or if you have a webzine, check out Zine X. They're really great for publicity!

Interesting journal entry: Can o' Zima, Nad ramming kites, poi, and drunken Spice World...Oh my! Heh.

According to Autodream's Past Life Detector this was my past life (just for fun) :
"I do not know how you feel about it, but you were female in your last earthly incarnation. You were born somewhere around territory of modern South Afrika approximately on 925. Your profession was writer, dramatist, organizer of rituals.
Your brief psychological profile in that past life: Ruthless character, carefully weighing his decisions in critical situations, with excellent self-control and strong will. Such people are generally liked, but not always loved.
Lesson, that your last past life brought to present: Your lesson -- to study, to practice and to use wisdom, enclosed in psychological sciences, and in ancient manuscripts. With strong faith and hard work you will reach your real destiny in present life. Judging from your past, in the future of your current life you will be guaranteed to succeed and become happy."

- OnMP3.com & MP3 News Wire - Stay abreast of the MP3 controversy.

I got Millencolin's No Cigar MP3 for free @ emusic. It rocks!

I'm interested in working with online journalism. I'd stay home, get to do one of my favorite things: write; and I'd get paid for it!

- Check out All Advantage if you want to me a little extra cash. I am :)

Usually, I don't listen to R & B, but it's impossible not to get Pink's single, "There You Go" stuck in my head!
[am I seeing a pink trend here?]

Earlier today I was cleaning out my closet, getting ready to move, when I came across a box stuffed with books, letters and other things from when I was younger. I love finding stuff like that! I found some of my favorite books from back then: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Secret Garden, Little Women, Little Men, Mr. Popper's Penguins, Swiss Family Robinson, and The Cricket In Times Square. I must have read those 10 times or more each; well, maybe not, but it sure seems like it!

Ok, I've wasted enough time today; I've got to get a new issue of my zine published!

Thanks to A Distance Here Between Us

Yep, there's another "get paid to surf" service: ValuePay I joined. Maybe I'll actually make some money with this one :)

Ethan Hawke is going to be on The Tonight Show tonight. I've got to watch that ;)

- I wish I'd found Gator a long time ago! "Gator is a free online tool that helps eliminate frustrating web chores like filling out forms and remembering passwords. Gator stores all your personal data in an encrypted file on your hard drive. When you hit a web page that has a form or requires a login ID, account number or password, Gator surfaces and provides the exact information needed with no typing! Gator is your smart online companion. It is a small file -- under 3 minutes to download on 56K modem." Ah, laziness! :)

- I've got Eminem's "The Real Slim Shady," stuck in my head. Yeah, he's vulgar and crass, but I saw the video for the song a few days ago, and it's so hilarious!

I've been waiting forever it seems for Matchbox20 to come out with a new album, and it's almost here!

Natalie Portman is one of my favorite actresses. I don't know if I'm going to see Where The Heart Is any time soon, since I rarely see movies in the theater.

David Duchovny was on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? last night. He almost won $500,000, but came away with only $32, 000 for his charity.

- I saw Best Laid Plans yesterday, and enjoyed it, but my younger brothers thought it sucked. Typical. Anyway, it was the first time I've seen Alessandro Nivola in a movie before. He intrigues me; I'll have to check out some of the other movies he's been in.

- Since I was born in 1980, I've always considered myself a child of the '80s, although I hate(d) big hair bands, the clothes, the shows, practically everything about 80s; except for the cartoons - Rainbow Brite, The Smurfs, etc. I've come to realize I'm a child of the 90s! After all, the death of Kurt Cobain is a faint memory to me and that happened in 1994! The music I listen to (for the most part) is a product of the 90s, most of the things I am entertained by are from the 90s. My most vivid memories are from the 90s. And, I'm not ashamed to admit it, I felt rather sad when the clock struck 12 on January 1, 2000.

- The web is finally catching up to the expectations that I had when I first got online in late '97. One of the things that I really looked forward to was finding new music, since I live in a small town in south Texas which hardly ever gets live acts to come here. So, I'm elated to finally ffind sites such as Virgin Jam Cast and WiredPlanet that allow me to find new music and listen to old favorites at the same time.

- I just took the Geek Quiz. Here are my results: "118.8 - This GQ places you in the 88.57 percentile. Your GQ is about average - your coolness offsets your geekiness." Hmm, well, I guess I never thought I was a geek.

- It's dispicable what they're doing with the tape of the Columbine massacure aftermath. Sarah McLachlan and others want their songs removed, and rightly so, I believe.

- When Blink 182 first released "Dammit" in 1997, for months I thought they were singing "Well, I guess Sissy's growing up." And I thought that the Bloodhound Gang was singing, "They were all in love with Diane; they were doing it in Texas," when really they were singing,"They were all in love with dying..." Heh. Go here for more misheard lyrics.

- If there's one movie that I've seen recently that I actually liked, it has to be Fight Club. I remember seeing the trailers for it, and thinking,"Oh, that probably sucks," so I didn't watch it until it was out on video, and I didn't ever rent the video, my brother did! I heard that some critics gave it bad reviews. I really don't see why; it was interesting, had a lot of twists and turns in it, and made me think, and Edward Norton was a plus. Oh, well...I rarely agree with the critics.

- If you're into the MP3 scene, you know what's up with artists trying to sue Napster and MP3.com. Well, I'm happy to report that some artists aren't afraid of fans trading their songs via MP3, and that CD sales are (suprise, surprise!)up.

- I've always hated it when people only listen to one or two genres of music and say that everything else sucks. Even so, I kind of feel like a sellout linking to this band, since I usually listen to "harder" stuff...but I can't help it! I think they're really good, and I enjoy them, so...go to Savage Garden's site!
