Quote o' the day: "Never doubt the power of a small group of committed individuals to change the world. It is the only thing that ever has." — Margaret Mead
I was saddened to learn that Mr. Rogers died today. Watching Mr. Roger's Neighborhood is such an inextricable memory from my childhood, that even though I hadn't thought of him in years, my heart still dropped when I read the news.
Mr. Rogers, you will be missed, by people of all ages. Remembering Mr. Rogers.
Oh, this brings back so many memories for me: Mr. Rogers' Picture Picture. That was always my favorite part of the show.
Something very cool that I just discovered today: How Mr. Rogers Saved the VCR.
Get your name in Chinese Characters. Very neat. Here's mine: Joanna.
[Via The Presurfer. Gerard always finds the coolest stuff!]
Photo Essays by Herman Krieger. Exquisite black and white photos with funny captions.
"The Greatest Snow on Earth": The Winter Olympics in Downtown Salt Lake City. Another photo essay. Ah, the memories! (No, I wasn't in SLC for the Olympics, but I was there for the 1st anniversary of them.)
Pencil Carvings. I wonder where people get the time and motivation to do stuff like that?
Beautiful pictures of snow crystals.
World peace protests in photos
For a measly $21,000, you could be the proud owner of this computer monitor.
What's your kung-fu name? Mine is Iron Scorpion (Makes sense, I guess, since I am a Scorpio.)
Oh, coolness: Sunset from space.
They look like snakes...

Ok, I finally have a real update for you all! ;)
RunTheUSA.com: "We're going for a run...Can we crash at your place?"
This is simular to the above link...LetMeStayForADay.com.
What Color is Your Terror Alert?: "Confused by the government's terror alert color codes? Help is at hand! We've created 23 new Enhanced Terror Alert Colors, each one denoting a precise threat condition -- so you'll always know exactly how terrorized you're supposed be." (Either you laugh or you cry.)
Celebrity Transformations. Check out George Clooney in the 80s and early 90s! Bwahaha!
How did I miss this? The Dell Dude was busted while allegedly trying to buy pot. "Dude, you're getting a buzz!"
If you're looking for really good lip balm, check out Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. It's really the best balm I've ever used! (No, I'm not getting paid for this plug. Heh.)
The Friday Five, one day late:
1. What is your most prized material possession?
Hmm, my computer? It's definitely my most expensive! ;)
2. What item, that you currently own, have you had the longest?
Childhood toys (Stuffed animals, etc. They're in the closet. Poor neglected things.)
3. Are you a packrat?
I think I could easily become one, but I force myself not to keep things that I really don't need. Also, about every six months, I get the urge to go through my stuff and throw out unnecessary items: papers, receipts, ticket stubs, etc.
4. Do you prefer a spic-and-span clean house? Or is some clutter necessary to avoid the appearance of a museum?
Clutter is never necessary. A clean house can be inviting, without looking like a museum. Of course, my house is definitely not spic-and-span!
5. Do the rooms in your house have a theme? Or is it a mixture of knick-knacks here and there?
No themes, but colors don't clash, etc.
Yep, I'm a child of the 90s, so this doesn't surprise me:

what decade does your personality live in?

I've been procrastinating horribly, I know. Please forgive the lack of updates. I'm thinking of revamping the 'blog, so stay tuned!

I'm back from SLC. What a trip it was! I haven't had time to re-size any of my pictures for the web, but I will soon. Lots to come!
Here's a preview:

Left to right: My friend, April; Rusty Smith, short track speed skating bronze medalist; and me. This was taken at the Olympic Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, February 8 in Salt Lake City. The picture was taken with April's camera. Thanks, Apey! ;)
Here's Apolo, being interviewed on Sunday, after his awesome wins in the 1000m, 3000m, and the U.S. team's silver finish in the men's relay. I took this picture for my website, ApoloPortal.net

I leave for Salt Lake City early tomorrow afternoon. I'm really excited and happy about going. Almost a year after first seeing short track on the Olympics, I finally get to see a short track speed skating World Cup competition (and Apolo!) in person. This trip is going to be awesome, I can tell already!
If you live in SLC or the SLC-area, I urge you to check out the competition this weekend. Tickets are still on sale, only $15-per-day [More info. here].
If you can't make it to the competition, it is going to air on NBC on Saturday, February 15 at 2:00 p.m. EST. Check it out, maybe you'll catch a glimpse of me! ;)
This will be my last update for about a week or so. I'll be getting back home on Wednesday, February 12, but will probably be too tired/busy to update right away.
Salt Lake City, here I come!

I woke up this morning to the horrible news that the Space Shuttle Columbia had disintegrated over Texas on it's way Floria for landing. I instantly had a flashback to when the Challenger exploded in 1986. I was only 5 when that happened, and I was watching it live on TV. I'll never forget; it's a memory that seared in my brain forever.
My thoughts and prayers are with the families of all who lost their lives today.
