Cool Commodities: "There's no question that dissent has become cool, and nothing sells quite like 'nonconformity.'"

Share your favorite sandwich recipe at the Sandwich Project. Some of the sandwiches there sound delicious, but I'd definitely pass on the Power Pickle and the Toasted Salami and Banana.

I've been getting a lot of hits from people looking for the lyrics to P.O.D.'s new song, Sleeping Awake, so I thought I might as well link to them. Here they are: Sleeping Awake lyrics.

Today, April 27, is Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day. Make sure to check out the gallery. [via mefi]

Just a tiny note to let you know I'm still around. I have lots of links to add, just no time to add them right now.

Until I get a chance to add more, here's a Flash amusement amusement: Interactive Coloring Book.

Happy Easter to all who celebrate the day!

Meomi is so cute! Normally, I don't really like "cutesy" stuff, but those little characters are adorable.

More cute stuff: UnkyMoods.com.

You can listen to the new P.O.D. single, Sleeping Awake, at the Matrix site.

PurplePens.com: "...devoted to writers, writing, and that magical thing called creativity."

It would be cool to go back in time, just to try all the discontinued candies. [via pcjm]

Everyone's probably heard about the giant squid that was caught a couple of weeks ago. If that piqued your interest (and how could it not?), you might be interested in this: In Search of Giant Squid, an online exhibit that "explores and interprets the mystery, beauty and complexity of giant squids..."

Elections are next year. Get ready: Open Secrets, "Your Guide to Money In U.S. Elections.

What to Do When Real Bugs Enter Your Computer. Did you know there is such a thing as "PC hygiene"? Neither did I.

Random strangeness: A cow unicorn?

Council votes in favour of 'Hell'. That reminds me of a city nearby whose workers would answer the phones with "Heaveno," since they didn't want to say "Hello. Ah, the stupidity!

I just finished reading 21 Dog Years: Doing Time @ Amazon.com, by Mike Daisey.

Daisey, a disaffected dilettante, was not the type to get into corporate work; but he found himself there, when his temping agency said that Amazon.com wanted them to send their "freaks" to work in it's customer service department.

How much of this book is hyperbole and/or satire? It's hard to say, especially since the author admits that "some facts were injured in the telling of this story." If you're looking for a hard-hitting exposé on business practices at Amazon, this isn't the book for you. If, instead, you'd like a fun, entertaining and somewhat informative read about the dot-com boom and some of the personalities behind it, it's definitely for you.

No time to put up links this morning. Hopefully, later today.

'Monster of man's making': "Professor Peter Curson, a historical epidemiologist at Sydney's Macquarie University, said Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome was in many ways a monster of man's own making, along with other new diseases like AIDS and Ebola."

I hardly watch TV anymore, but still this is still linkable: This Year's Renewed and Cancelled Shows.

Quote of the day: "The government is merely a servant -- merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn't. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them." -- Mark Twain

NBC’s David Bloom dies in Iraq. He was only 39, too. So very sorry for his family.

These kittens are so cute, I want them all! [via MemeMachineGo!]

Pop Cult Magazine is the "obsessive journal of quality pop culture."

My local paper recently picked up the Get Fuzzy comic. It's not hilarious, but it does have it's chuckle-inducing scenes, like today's strip. The author of this article thinks that Get Fuzzy will save newspaper comics from being totally pathetic. (By the way, Mother Goose & Grimm is my favorite comic strip.)
